Course Description: This course provides insight into the “true” value of vision benefits by understanding the eye examination component of a vision plan, which goes well beyond a prescription to obtain eyeglasses or contact lenses. Learning what eye care professionals view in the back of the eye will illustrate how diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, as well as common sight threatening eye diseases are identified. Linking eye exam findings in addition to medical and pharmacy code data can add increased early identification and referral sources to a company’s wellness and disease management programs.
